Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West made sure to join in on the laughs after walking into a street sign last week by playfully adding fuel to his own fire in a new "Saturday Night Live" promotional teaser.
The brief promo clip comes just a day before Mr. West is set to appear on the show's season finale.
When we talked about the first promo for Ben Affleck's "Saturday Night Live" featuring cast member Bill Hader, we mentioned that this may be seen as an opportunity for him to have one last opportunity to do one of these mini-sketches before riding off into the sunset. Now, could they be doing the same exact thing with Fred Armisen. As for this promo itself, it is probably okay at best. Most of the jokes are pretty lame, pretty obvious, and West (who was not present at all in the first sketch) looks fairly unhappy to be there while sporting a giant bandage on his head. Both the rapper and the "Argo" director have been on the show a number of times, but this is a night of firsts for them. This is Affleck's first appearance since becoming a major player in the directing world, and it also serves as West's first show since Kim Kardashian became pregnant with his first child. Before the clip went viral, footage of Yeezy talking about his upcoming appearance during a live New York concert emerged.
"It's so funny. Somebody asked me, 'When you do SNL, are you going to do a skit about the paparazzi and sh*t. And like humanize yourself?' I ain't hear to apologize to no motherf*ckers man. It ain't about me humanizing myself. At one point did I become un-human where I had to turn myself back. Or maybe I was demonized, or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that type of situation. I ain't no motherf*ckin' celebrity. I ain't runnin' for office. I ain't kissin' nobody's motherf*ckin' babies. I drop your baby and you motherf*ckers sue me and sh*t. I'm trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best that they can be. And I don't want nobody else to ask anything of me! Don't ask nothing else of me." (Miss Info TV)
Last week, memorable footage of Yeezy walking into a street sign surfaced across the Internet.
Kim Kardashian's maternal instincts are already kicking in! The seven-months-pregnant reality star, 32, was house-hunting with beau Kanye West in Bel-Air, Calif. on Friday, May 10, when the rapper suddenly walked straight into a street pole. Dressing her growing baby bump in a black lace cardigan paired with a side braid and chandelier earrings, the expectant mother immediately showed her nurturing side -- going to the rapper's side and kissing his forehead while he seemed to wince from the klutzy mishap. Immediately following the accident, the Chicago native went off on nearby photographers.
An angry West clasped his hand to his head and bent over in pain. "You OK Kanye?" photographers can be heard asking, in footage of the incident. West briefly shouts at a photog to "stop taking f---ing pictures, man," before it appeared that he calmed down and walked away. But this being Kanye West, after all, video recently surfaced showing the hothead stayed true to form and did launch into an expletive-filled tirade against another photographer, who meekly protested, "I just got here." That photographer even tries to offer an olive branch, saying, "If you want me to leave, I'll leave, Kanye." (NY Post)
