Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne may need to stick with dropping occasional I Am Not A Human Being projects as his second-week sales projections have the LP pushing out an impressive estimate.
Based on weekend projections, the LP should once again chart in the Top 5 music releases and potentially sell up to 70,000 copies.
YOUR TOP 15: As expected, Justin Timberlake will remain at #1 for a third week, leading a Top 15 that reads like a who's who of the music industry with almost as many individual labels represented. The 20/20 Experience, already the year's best selling album in just three weeks, extends its lead over 2013's #2 best seller, Mumford & Sons, by nearly double, approximately 1.42m to 717k. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Justin Timberlake (RCA) 140-150k *The Band Perry (Republic Nashville) 110-120k *Tyler The Creator (Columbia) 85-95k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 75-80k Lil Wayne (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) 65-70k (HITS Daily Double)
In its opening week, the LP easily pushed out over 200,000 copies.
Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne's I Am Not A Human Being II debuted on the chart at No. 2. With a full seven days in the books, Weezy's LP has sold 217,300 copies. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Coincidentally, the star-studded album has packed a heavy punch despite some playful jokes Weezy F. Baby made about it last month.
"Uh, it sucks. [laughs] I hate it. But it's a new album, it's for the people. It's I Am Not a Human Being II," Weezy said in an interview. "Nah, I'm joking, man. [laughs] I'm proud of everything I do, man. Everything I do and everybody I do. But, um, it's an awesome album, man. I took my time on it, and, you know me, just the thoughts on the left side of my brain, I just put 'em together and made an album of it. And then, you know, later comes the rest. [laughs]" (Power 106)
Recently, Cash Money Records' Birdman described Weezy's latest release as nothing short of solid material.
"With Wayne, it's always, to me, d*mn near like magic to watch him work and how he go in to do what he do," Birdman said in an interview. "I Am Not a Human is totally different. To have an artist that can do that and be so [mechanical] like he is, he's a gift, and his album is so hard. It's so raw. I think the fans are gonna enjoy it. You always say that because he's so talented, but he just do his thing. He's a monster." (MTV)
