Former G.O.O.D Music artist Kid Cudi recently discussed his admiration for overnight rap stars like A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar, even admitting they have him feeling light years beyond his actual age.
According to the 29-year-old, he sometimes feels "out of touch" with the ever-changing evolution of music and the new artists invading the industry.
Cudi also recalled that when Kendrick showed up at the studio -- "he came in there f---ing ready to go" -- the Cleveland rapper still hadn't come up with a hook. He did have one verse written, though, and from there everything came together organically. "I was so humbled by the fact that [Kendrick] was such a big fan of mine because sometimes I just feel out of touch with the new generation," the 29-year old admitted. "I'm not even that old, but I was away for a while and it's just really exciting for me to see the love from somebody like Kendrick who's in a space where he's just beasting and killing it." (MTV)
Earlier this month, Cudder gave props to teenage rapper Chief Keef.
"F*ck man I love this n*gga Chief Keef. N*gga melodies is epic!," Keef tweeted April 13th.
"F*ck I hate bein sobahhhh!!"
"@RMB215 mann that n*gga RAW. U crazy fam. But i respect ur opinion tho"

This week, Kid's new Indicud solo effort just missed topping the sales chart.
One rock band replaces another atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, as Fall Out Boy's "Save Rock and Roll" debuts at No. 1, bumping last week's champ, Paramore's "Paramore," down to No. 12. Fall Out Boy bows with 154,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the quartet's third-biggest sales week ever. Fall Out Boy had been in a race for No. 1 this week with Kid Cudi, who sees his new "Indicud" debut at No. 2 with 136,000. Initially, industry sources had forecast both albums -- released last Tuesday (April 16) -- to sell around 150,000. However, Kid Cudi fell behind a bit once the weekend hit, and Fall Out Boy pulled ahead by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 21. (Billboard)
A few weeks ago, the Cleveland hip-hop artist announced a departure from G.O.O.D Music.
"I'm announcing that I'm no longer on G.O.O.D Music," Cudi revealed in an interview. "This is something that no one knows, really, but I'm no longer on G.O.O.D Music. ... I could never get tired of Kanye but we were talking on the phone the other day, these are things I've been wanting to talk to him about, starting my own direction and he got it because he's trying to start his new path, trying new things as an artist and he was just like, 'Man, I feel you.' ... There's no beef, there's no problems with anyone on the label. It's all love." (Power 106)
