Dipset's Juelz Santana recently updated fans on the status of a long-awaited Diplomats reunion and said plans to put out a group album are still in motion.
While he would not attach any dates or deadlines, Santana promised the Diplomats are back to business.
"We definitely going to get back in the studio and start working on some music and if the vibe is good and the music is coming out the way it's supposed to come out. We going to put that record out." (HHS1987)
A few days ago, Dipset's Jim Jones spoke on the much anticipated reunion.
"It's nothing really holding it up," Jimmy said in an interview when asked about the Dipset reunion. "It's just an organic thing, it's a band of brothers that started this game from teenagers, made a h*ll of a lot of money, probably more money than most of the industry had ever seen, um, you know, we all was feeling ourselves, little discrepancies, got back together, loving the fact that we could get back together on our own regard because everybody is their own boss, it's still Dipset for life, all of us have been recording. This month marks the ten-year anniversary of Diplomatic Immunity 1, the first album we did together. So yes, there will be a lot of surprises this year. We plan to attack a lot of Summer Jam stages, we plan to attack a lot of venues, um, we good. You're gonna love it, I promise you. And we have some music, that's the scary thing. ... I can say now we have some music that's going to bust some people's heads open." ("Jenny Boom Boom TV")
Earlier this year, Santana blamed himself for holding things up.
"Shout-out to Jim, shout-out to Cam. I'm not going to even lie, at the time, when we put out the 'Salute' record, it was still at the time where I wasn't doing a lot of music, just, period. I wasn't back in the zone that I needed to be in, musically. Honestly. It's not even about that project. I had the same way like I took a break from everything. ... I wasn't really in my mojo to just sit down and just complete a Dipset project. We up with my man Flex, this is a new year. In order to get it right, we've got to make it all the way right. You dig what I'm saying? That's why I'm saying it is possible, because I know Cam is willing to do, I'm sure Jim is willing to do it. I've always been willing to do it, it's just about me getting my music mojo back." ("Funkmaster Flex")
Last spring, Juelz talked about putting efforts into his own music and getting his Diplomats all back together.
"I'll probably drop two mixtapes before the album and we gonna get everything right, we gonna get everything back in the proper perspective where it need to be," he told MTV News. "When I put out my music it will be well worth the wait, that's all I can say." And in case you were wondering about the status of Diplomatic Immunity 3, the long-awaited reunion album with Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz and Freekey Zekey, that idea is still on the table. "Hopefully we gonna get that Diplomat album poppin'," Santana plugged. "We just want to do that the right way." (MTV)
