[SOHH highlights a hot record each Tuesday and offers a unique look at the track in Singled Out. After Planet VI's Uptown and A1 collectively decoded Beyoncé's hard-hitting "Bow Down/I Been On," Philadelphia rap veteran Eve breaks down her "She Bad Bad" anthem.]
I heard about this kid named JukeBox from my A&R guy and I happened to be in Los Angeles and we met up. He was like, "Yo, are you working on that new record because I've got this record for you. Come through."
I did end up coming through and I actually was so tired when I recorded that record. I didn't even think I was going to record that night but when I went into that studio and he played that record, I was like, 'Yo, this is so f*cking crazy and so different.'
It was something I had never heard before, so I wrote the record, literally, that night. It took me probably about an hour or something like that. I loved the record because it was so different. Like I said, I hadn't heard anything like that and I think people didn't think it was going to be the first record out but it just worked.
With the video, I just kind of wanted to keep it simple. I just wanted it to be all about me because a lot of people haven't seen me in a long time. I wanted to make sure this video was all me wearing certain outfits and in different kinds of set-ups.
Actually, JukeBox is in the video. There's one dude in the video and that's actually the producer.
