Written by SOHH for EA-Ski

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Obie Trice gave himself the title last week, West Coast rap veteran EA-Ski also crowns the man in the mirror SOHH Underrated.]

I'm going to be honest with you and this may come off sounding a certain way but I've just got to say it. I would have to say myself for SOHH Underrated.

I've been behind so many people and helped so many careers and I don't even know how much I've done and how underrated that I've been because I'm not the type of person who brags about what I've done or say how much I've done.

That's why I think things I've done with my music and working with Danny Glover is intriguing because it kind of catches people off-guard. They don't really know how special I am especially with the rhymes and especially with the production.

They know but it's not on the scale [it should be]. If they knew all the people that I've helped and wrote for, they'd be like, 'Whoa!' That's why I'm just going to throw it out there and say myself. I'm really a beast at what I do and this is the reason why I'm at the table with this new product.

This is not to take away from any people [who might feel underrated] because I do know cats out there but it's just me right now. I love a lot of cats but if you read a lot of people's interviews, they'll say EA-Ski is underrated. People call me the Dr. Dre of the Bay Area. They say that but a lot of the other cats get the limelight.

When you think about the West Coast, you think Dr. Dre, you think Ice Cube, you think Snoop Dogg. You don't really think E-A-Ski. You might say it in conjunction if you're into the history and West Coast culture but you don't understand, I wrote for Dr. Dre at one point and Snoop. It's a lot of stuff where when you see me doing my thing now, I've got to step up to the plate and say it's me.

I've pretty much always been under the radar and I've got to change that.

EA-Ski is a gangsta rapper from Oakland, California. He had earlier joined the In-a-minuteNo-Limit family and was also a part of the first TRU along with Master P, King George, Big Ed & Rally Ral. His debut album, 1 Step Ahead Of Yall, was released in 1992, followed by Earthquake in 1998. The album included the single "Showdown", and featured Ice Cube, Ice-T, Dr. Dre, Spice 1, Jayo Felony, and several West Coast artists. A popular Emcee, E-A-Ski has made a name as a Local Super-Producer alongwith his partner, CMT.
