Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em's Falcons came up short in their journey to the Super Bowl, but the 22 year-old hip-hop artist said he still won big by betting on the Baltimore Ravens taking down the San Francisco 49ers last night (February 3).
Accoding to Soulja Boy, he walked away from last night's Super Bowl XLVII match-up $200,000 richer.
Soulja Boy HIT IT BIG last night ... coming up victorious on a $200k Super Bowl bet thanks to the Baltimore Ravens ... and the rapper says he already has a plan to spend the money. Soulja was hanging out with Sean Kingston in L.A. last night after the game ... and explained why he felt so confident bettin' on the birds. It's pretty solid logic. So what's he gonna do with his winnings? The 22-year-old says he plans on dividing the money between his retirement account and a low-risk mutual fund ... JUST KIDDING HE'S GONNA BLOW IT ON SOMETHING REALLY EXPENSIVE!!!! (TMZ)
Last year, fellow Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane admitted losing big chips on Super Bowl XLVI.
"That's my partner and we're definitely trying to work something out," Gucci said referring to Birdman. "We're always trying to work something out. You know I'm a business man. I always keep my ears open to what's going on. [Am I a sports fan?] I'm a big sports fan. I lost like three bets in a row. I bet on the [Baltimore] Ravens, the [San Francisco] 49ers and the Patriots and I lost three in a row. [Did I want to take on Birdman's $5 million bet?] Nah, he wanted the same team, both of us went for the Patriots. Yeah, I lost." (Hot 107.9)
G-Unit's 50 Cent doubted Cash Money co-founder Birdman put up $5 million in last year's Super Bowl.
In an exclusive Yahoo! interview, the artist born Curtis Jackson explained why he responded to a wager proposed by another hip-hop star, Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan "Baby" Williams. "Baby had said he had $5 million on the Patriots," 50 explained while sitting in the trailer backstage of the Bud Light Hotel in Indianapolis. "I just think he was just passionate about the Patriots winning and just said that. I don't think he actually would bet $5 million." 50 said he was okay gambling $1 million since he won $500,000 in another recent bet. In January, he won $500,000 when the Giants became the NFC champions. "It would just be risking what I won the first time," he added. (Yahoo News)
After a hard fought game, Ravens edged the 49ers in a 34-31 upset.
The Baltimore Ravens held off a furious second-half charge by the San Francisco 49ers en route to a 34-31 triumph in Super Bowl XLVII. It marked the Ravens' first title since the 2000 season, when they defeated the New York Giants, 34-7. Coach John Harbaugh squeezed out a win over his younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, while the Ravens sent star linebacker Ray Lewis into retirement with another Super Bowl ring. The game wasn't decided until 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sailed a pass incomplete toward Michael Crabtree on fourth-and-goal deep in Ravens' territory. Jim Harbaugh was animated in his disgust with the call, pleading for a pass interference penalty. (Chicago Tribune)
