[With the release of his Crushed Ice finally here, "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" cast member Benzino gives SOHH readers the scoop behind the new mixtape.]
As I'm getting older, I'm just getting better with time. It's a whole new vibe right now.
I definitely got off that gangsta rap tip. As I'm getting older, things are focusing more on the ladies out there but by no means, this is not a lovey dovey mixtape. It's just some real good music. There's some hard beats on here. I would say this is something you and your girl could listen to.
I never really stopped doing music, hip-hop is my number one love other than my kids. I've never really stopped making music. It's been a great opportunity doing "Love & Hip Hop" and we actually just started shooting the second season. I'm on as a main cast member now. So I figured this Crushed Ice mixtape was a really good format for people to really get to know Benzino on a whole different vibe.
I'm always going to be doing music, the writing and producing is always going to be a part of my life.
Me and Stevie J have done so much music together. Last season we had a band and it was really more of a grown-up feel. We did a whole album of that but as we moved on, Stevie said he wanted to move on and do some different stuff. I have a whole album's worth of music with Stevie.
We have so many great songs together and I just thought, "Let me just put this mixtape out and see what happens."
