West Coast rapper Game and Redman showed off their love for the sticky icky over the weekend by coming through for marijuana-based publication HIGH TIMES' annual Medical Cannabis World Cup in California.
The rap duo opted out of NBA All-Star Weekend activities to support marijuana smokers around the world.
Always fighting for legalization of cannabis, HIGH TIMES held their annual Medical Cannabis Cup in San Bernardino, California over the weekend. The event was supposed to take place in LA but moved because of opposition from the LAPD. Avid weed smoker Redman was one of the performers and Game decided to join him on the stage to perform his classic 'How We Do' (HHNM)
Recently, outspoken Chicago rapper Rhymefest spoke to SOHH and predicted how much of an impact the legalization of marijuana could have in the United States.
"In 2013, we're going to learn that just as alcohol was illegal and being bootlegged, the government has finally figured out how to control the sale and distribution of marijuana. They finally figured out how to make people pay for licenses to have spots and only the people they want so black people in the hood ain't gonna be getting rich off marijuana no more. Now that the government has figured out how to license and sell and regulate marijuana, we're gonna find out that marijuana isn't so illegal. That's not based on the danger of it as a drug but based on the economics of it." (SOHH)
Last month, New York rapper A$AP Rocky revealed how weed brought him to Grammy-winning sensation Rihanna.
"Rihanna is a pothead and so am I, so we're real cool. Weed is going to bring us together as a generation. Drugs is what created Woodstock. Let's be clear about that," Rocky said in an interview. "I want to do movies. But not only that, I want to be a motivation for people. I want to be an activist and really inspire the hopeless youngbloods. I want to let them know that there's hope out there. Life is a b*tch, but there's always hope." (Rolling Stone)
A few weeks back, rap veteran Snoop Dogg detailed his interest in showing people the proper way to smoke the herbal drug.
In Snoop's Narnia, it's perfectly acceptable to look forward to teaching your kids how to pick seeds out of your stash or how to roll a blunt. "It's not that I would ever push weed on our kids," says Snoop, who has three children, ranging in age from 12 to 18, "but if they wanted to, I would love to show them how, the right way, so that way they won't get nothing put in their sh*t or overdose or trying some sh*t that ain't clean."
