[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Rockie Fresh gave Fabolous and Andre 3000 the title last week, New York native Denzil Porter crowns Common SOHH Underrated.]

Common is my favorite rapper so I'm going to have to say Common for SOHH Underrated.
I feel like Common is underrated. It's not to say he's underrated because he definitely gets the credit he deserves, but I think he deserves some more. A lot of people should recognize him.
There's a lot of people my age that haven't been put onto him and it's like, "Yo, what's up?" You know what I mean? And he's been doing it [for a long time], so I'm going to say Common.
It's his story-telling and his creativity and he even has some punchlines himself [that impresses me]. That's why I say him. A lot of his techniques go unrecognized.
I got into Common around the late 1990's, I'm still in my mid-20's, but that's when I really picked up on him.
Denzil Porter grew up in the north Bronx, NY with a passion for Hip-Hop music from a young age. In high school Denzil Porter began freestyling and battling, defeating all competitors. In 2004 Denzil Porter founded WreckHouse Entertainment, which produces music out of his in-house studio and hosts parties and events. With three mixtapes under his belt: On My Way Home, Live From The Other Side, and Home Made Music, and newly released Porter's Pot, Denzil Porter is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
