The Roots' Questlove and producer 9th Wonder have stepped up with their reactions to Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Jay-Z's new "Suit & Tie" collaboration amid some online backlash.

Questlove waved his fingers at people turning their noses up at the star-studded track.

"You Suit & Tie "meh"ers remind me of that Cosby ep where Cliff took Rudy & em to a burger joint after they bitched about the upscale spot.," Quest tweeted January 13th. (Questlove's Twitter)

9th Wonder, who has previously worked with Jay-Z, bigged up Timberlake's long-awaited anthem.

"I aint mad at it at all....RT @phontigallo "Suit & Tie" is basically Timbo and JT's take on a R. Kelly stepper joint. Not bad at all.," he tweeted January 14th.
""Suit & Tie" is a good time man.....good job JT & Timbo" (9th Wonder's Twitter)

Some music critics called out Timberlake and Timbaland for not living up to the song's hype.

Was it worth the wait? Not really. But it's not bad, either -- a slinky, horn-fueled throwback to the disco era with Timberlake doing his best Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z rhyming "This is trouble season" with "tuxedos for no reason." If it weren't for the rapping, it would be the perfect prom theme for a movie set in 1980. And that can't help but feel a little disappointing coming from a Timberlake and Timbaland collaboration. Their best work -- from "Cry Me a River" and "SexyBack" to "Carry Out" -- was state-of-the-art to cutting-edge with plenty of Timbaland's signature quirks. Is it wrong to want something that hits like Gregorian chants over funky Arabian synth riffs? Hey, they're the ones who raised those expectations. (AZ Central)

The threesome's new record started circulating online late Sunday (January 13) night.

Mr. "SexyBack" is back. Justin Timberlake released his new single, "Suit and Tie," late Sunday night. It features rapper Jay-Z. The upbeat jam is the 31-year-old's first musical offering since 2006's critically acclaimed "FutureSex/LoveSounds." His third solo album, "The 20/20 Experience," will be out later this year. Timberlake co-wrote and co-produced "Suit and Tie" with Timbaland, who produced much of the Grammy-winning "FutureSex/LoveSounds." (Detroit Free Press)
