[As 2012 fades away with mini-iPads galore, Samsung 3 putting pressure on Apple and Kindle Fire's burning up retail stores, SOHH's dropping a daily list of the 13 biggest things to look for in '13. Today, we're giving you the scoop on what big technology trends are going down these next 12 months.]

1. Apple's Finally Met Its Competition

There's no need for people to start worrying about what cell phone provider they currently have anymore because the real challenge is going to be determining whether to spend your hard-earned dollars on an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. The wave is fully in Samsung's favor, with people practically having their Galaxy 3 phones making out left-and-right in coffee shops. The days of iPhone supremacy are over. Consider this the new Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics rivalary of smartphones.

2. R.I.P. To The BlackBerry

The BlackBerry is like the retired Michael Jordan of smartphone technology. In its prime, nothing came close. Even when iPhone started to make noise in the mid-2000's, BlackBerry reigned as the champion of smartphones. Much like Jordan, it was league MVP, Finals MVP and stacked up career records on a yearly basis, but just as most legends have come to realize, there's always something lurking to take over. These days, you're considered "ancient" if you've got a BlackBerry in your hands. As the previous post suggests, it's either iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. Which side are you on in 2013?

3. Xbox 720

There's so many rumors attached to the buzz behind Xbox 360's follow-up that it's actually left no credible sources for information. All you must know is by Christmas time, there will "likely" be a new video game platform available to purchase, so you might want to start pre-ordering...NOW.

4. Hologram Rap Tour

What happened to all the fuss about a 2Pac hologram tour going down last year? It seems like everyone got taken away by Pac's hologram presence at Coachella that nothing more ever came about. There's too many wealthy musicians out there not to consider going on the road with one of the most celebrated late music moguls in the world. Couldn't you just picture a Taylor Swift and 2Pac hologram tour? Well, we can and in 2013, don't be surprised if this goes down.

5. Mic'd Up

Was it Honey Nut Cheerios or just playful trash talk with Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett? We're calling it now. By the time the ball drops on December 31st, most, if not all, sports teams will be wired for sound during games. There's some mics here and there, especially on select star players, but expect the amount of mics on teammates' uniforms and around fields/courts/stadiums to increase dramatically to not only fulfuill fans' interests but also serve as legal evidence over any disputes related to intense trashtalking.
