[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Rich Boy gave Lil Boosie the title earlier this week, Midwest rapper Brother Ali crowns Above The Law SOHH Underrated.]

Wow, if I can only pick one. Hmm. I think Above The Law is criminally underrated and slept on.

It's interesting. Huge stars and people who are just enormous and world famous, they always have people around them that are really brilliant, really gifted, highly creative, always pushing the envelope but they may not have the same level of star power. So they are not going to be the same enormous star as the person they're around.

But they influence them and they inspire them. Above The Law, I don't think they get the credit that they deserve for how much they inspired or helped to inspire and inform and push the creativity for Dr. Dre and everything that Dre has done.

There's a lot of people like that.

Brother Ali is an American Hip Hop artist based in Minneapolis, MN. He was born in Madison, WI and spent his early childhood moving from city to city in the Midwest (mostly in Michigan). Finally Ali's family settled in North Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1992. He attended Cooper High School in New Hope MN. It was in the North Minneapolis neighborhood where he converted to Islam and was given the name Ali (his birth certificate reads Jason Newman). Brother Ali now lives in a house in South Minneapolis where he continues to record.
