Injured New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire hung up his player jersey for good this week as reports claim he married his longtime girlfriend Alexis Welch in the Big Apple.

According to reports, the secret wedding went down on Wednesday (December 12).

The pair, who have three kids together, tied the knot at sunset on the top floor of their Jane St. apartment in New York. Amar'e and Alexis stuck with the 12 theme as only 12 guests attended the intimate wedding in honor of their big day. Reportedly, Alexis wore a fitted, custom-made gown with no train, while Amar'e stood at the altar in a Calvin Klein suit. Almost as soon as they said "I do," Alexis changed her handle on Instagram to AlexisAStoudemire. (S2S Magazine)

Someone close to the couple dished out details on their special day's theme.

"They decided to do this because of the date, and they wanted to do something spiritual and private for themselves," says one insider, who adds that the couple plan on throwing a bigger wedding this summer which Stoudemire's teammates, who were not aware he was getting married, will be invited to. The NBA star proposed to his now-wife in Paris around early June.

Amare Stoudemire is engaged to Alexis Welch after proposing to the mother of his three children in Paris Saturday night. While overlooking the Eiffel Tower outside of their penthouse at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite around 11 p.m. local time, Stoudemire showed Welch an 8.5-carat radiant-cut ring, worth more than $1 million. The Knicks power forward designed the ring with Los Angeles-based celebrity jeweler Shayan Afshar. (AOL Sporting News)

Back in 2010, Stoudemire denied rumors and gossip romantically connecting him to model Amber Rose.

"I mean, we friends," Amar'e told radio host Angie Martinez when asked about his relationship with Rose. "We're pretty good friends. She's a buddy of mine. It all depends on what you call dating. I think we're not dating, we're friends. We're buddies, we're mutual friends. She's a cool girl to talk to. I'm pretty sure she feels the same way about myself. [Engagement rumors?] That's totally not true. No fiancee. No boo. No wifey. None of that. Hopefully one day. But I do got kids and a baby's mama. We're friends..." (Hot 97)
