A week after DMX ignited the Internet with a holiday rendition of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," the former Ruff Ryders leader has killed any hopes of an upcoming Christmas rap album.

Approached by paparazzi for an interview, X let the world know he is not priming himself for a holiday-themed LP.

"Um, probably not," X said when asked if fans can expect a songs of Christmas album. "If something comes up, I'ma bang it out but yeah, I'm not looking forward to doing a Christmas album. [I sing] Christmas carols. I actually learned the flow from the Dr. Seuss joint, Green Eggs & Ham. Yeah, yeah, if you read the book, [laughs], nah, nah, I'm not gonna get into that but if you read the book, it's easy. Just get the book." (TMZ)

Last week, X's memorable "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" performance landed online.

In a video posted to YouTube on Monday, the rapper accepts a challenge at New York's Power 105.1 FM to deliver "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," then proceeds to bark his way through the holiday standard with a charm we at Pop & Hiss didn't know he had. What's more, he accompanies himself by beating a tabletop in time to the music. It's worth noting that DMX spends most of the performance looking down, perhaps consulting the song lyrics he insists at the beginning of the video he doesn't need. But that's a minor quibble for such a delightful yuletide treat. Seriously -- the dude kills it. (Los Angeles Times)

Some websites cited X's age and the impact Christmas songs during his youth played into his memorization of the entire tune.

DMX, as many his age, was undoubtedly subjected to the stop motion classic TV show Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer year after year (along with A Charlie Brown Christmas and, perhaps, old Laurel & Hardy March of the Wooden Soldiers.) This Chinese water-torture-styled yearly repetition firmly implanted the lyrics into the psyche of the gruff-voiced Yonkers spitter, as evidenced by his iconic-for-the-moment performance. Complete with a self-created instrumental, DMX delivers the most surprising hip hop holiday jingle rendition since the Honda commercial that uses Run-DMC's "Christmas in Hollis," which had us watching more white woman saying "collard greens" then we had previously seen, ever. The performance turned into such a viral hit, it got used in a variety of homemade comedy videos.

If you missed DMX singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" Monday, don't worry. There's a new version of the song out, and it brings things to the next level. Andrew Spena took the audio from the rapper's recent radio visit and paired it with video from the classic children's movie to create a flawless mash-up that's sure to brighten up your holiday season.
