G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T recently discussed his thoughts on the new Cruel Summer compilation album and what type of tracks never made the final cut.
According to Pusha, his personal top pick did not make the LP's release.
"My favorite record was probably records that didn't make the album. People don't know there were records where Common was rapping over--like, we had Common rapping on strip club records. Do you know how great that sh*t was? That sh*t was so good that it was like--it's annoying that I don't know if people will ever hear this sh*t," Pusha said in an interview. "You know me, you know my perspective. You got me, you got Big Sean, and then you have Common who's super conscious. He has a whole 'nother perspective. He was really rapping and really wanted to get on this record. He heard our verses and was like, "Man, I'm laying one to this." I'm like, "Are you for real?" He's like, "I'm doing it." (Complex)
Last week, G.O.O.D. Music's Hit-Boy revealed his verses also did not make the finalized version.
"I actually did a couple verses, but there was so much going on and so many different artists trying to get in there and do theirs that none ended up making this project, but I'm still in hopes that one day I'll rap on a song with Kanye West," Hit-Boy said. (MTV)
To date, the star-studded group effort has sold over 300,000 copies.
G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer moved down six spots to No. 35 with 11,000. Moving into week seven, the group's debut has sold 331,000 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
The focus is now on a speculated upcoming Cruel Summer follow-up.
"We're just trying to do some next 'ish, you know what I'm saying?," Q-Tip said in an interview when asked about working with Kanye West. "Look out for the Pusha T album, the Big Sean album's coming up next. [Can you expect me on Cruel Winter?] Oh yeah, for sure. I can't really, [laughs], let out too much details about it but yeah, I'll be on it. Kanye had the plan for that, so look out." (Hip Hop Since 1978)
