[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Jo Koy gave Timbaland the title last week, producer/rapper Kovas crowns Fabolous SOHH Underrated.]

I think Fabolous is underrated. I think when you listen to what Fabolous actually says, you're like, "Oh wow, that was a clever metaphor used."

What's crazy is I was up on Fab early. Being from Brooklyn, I had to know about Fab. It was one of those things where, you know, you hear the hit records on the radio and it's cool, whatever, but when you really listen to him? I remember listening to him, kinda zoned out, either high or drunk, and I would say, "Hold up. Did you hear what he just said? What he just said was crazy!"

Sometimes you can go unnoticed because your delivery is so smooth that you almost miss the punchline whereas someone like Drake, he insinuates the punchline so much so that you can't miss it.

But I think there might be four or five punchlines in four or five bars from Fab that you won't hear because he's doing the whole big set-up thing [with his flow].

He's done so many remixes and I remember doing so many remixes for Jive a while back and I don't even know if it came out. I remember he got on one and his verse was crazy. It was on a pop record and I can't remember if it came out.

Even songs he's done [on the radio], like the one he did with Ne-Yo, the one about the girl, it's like every time he's on a record, he steps his game up and he's not half-a**ing it.

Kovas made his debut in 2000 at the age of 16 as both a producer and artist on the Tommy Boy Records release, De La Soul featuring Kovas "Words and Verbs." He began to compose music, pulling from his Latin/ French Moroccan heritage, as well as rock, punk, soul and hip-hop influences. In 2007, Kovas released his first solo EP, The Arrogance of Youth. In 2009, he released a follow up EP Reagan Babies.
