News: UPDATE: Lil Scrappy's Still Stuck In Jail, More Details Unveiled
Tuesday, Oct 2, 2012 4:05PM
Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy is reportedly still behind bars after getting busted on a probation violation Monday (October 1), however, more details surrounding his arrest have surfaced online.
According to reports, Scrappy's arrest actually stems from missing a scheduled probation appointment.
Lil Scrappy is STILL behind bars following his arrest in ATL yesterday ... and it's all because he failed to check in with his probation officer ... TMZ has learned. We broke the story, Scrappy was locked up in Georgia yesterday for violating his probation stemming from a 2008 marijuana possession case. But nearly 2 weeks before he was arrested, Scrappy filed documents with the DeKalb County Superior Court, begging the judge to recall the warrant for his arrest. In the docs, Scrappy admits he failed to check in with his probation officer on August 9, 2012 ... but says it was an honest mistake because he had been on non-reporting status for 1.5 years and didn't know a check-in date had been scheduled. The rapper has since refuted the accusations and suggested he did nothing wrong on his end.
Scrappy insists he has otherwise been a model probationer and wants his arrest warrant recalled ASAP. The judge hadn't ruled on Scrappy's request by the time the rapper had a run-in with police yesterday, which is why he was arrested and taken to jail. Scrappy is expected to go in front of a judge sometime in the near future ... but for now, he remains behind bars. Scrappy's rep tells TMZ the rapper's lawyer is trying to resolve the legal matters and get Scrappy out of jail. (TMZ)
Details on his arrest hit the Internet Monday evening.
Rapper Lil Scrappy was arrested and booked at the DeKalb County Jail on Monday. According to the DeKalb County Jail Tracking System, the 28-year-old rapper also known as Darryl Raynard Richardson is still in custody. The rapper has been charged with a felony probation violation. It is unclear why he was detained. No further information was immediately released. (11 Alive)
Recently, the Southern rapper talked to SOHH about surviving a near-fatal asthma attack last spring.
"Oh yeah, everything's better, man," Scrappy told SOHH when asked about his current health condition. "Like I told people, it was one of those times where I should have been had my asthma checked on. But I ain't ever go until my granny died and I went and drunk myself to a pulp. You dig? They say the liquor helps bring on asthma. ... I think it's something I had to take care of. I don't think it's about being more mature. What I've realized is don't no man like to go to the hospital unless there's something seriously wrong." (SOHH)
