With a highly-anticipated debut album on deck, Bad Boy Records' rapper Machine Gun Kelly recently revealed Diddy's initial confusion to hearing his Lace Up LP.

According to MGK, Puff Daddy did not initially "get" his full-length solo effort upon first listen.

"Honestly, man, Puff had got back from Ibiza three days prior to hearing the album," Kells said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" this past Wednesday. "People where I'm from don't even know what an Ibiza is; they probably think it's like a fur coat." With Diddy coming from the Spanish party island, he was probably in a celebratory state of mind, Kells said, and Lace Up isn't that cheery. "I think when he heard it, his initial reaction was like, 'Damn, why are you so angry?' " Machine Gun Kelly speculated. It took Diddy some time, but after absorbing the LP, which hits stores Tuesday, he began to see where the angst-filled rapper was coming from. "I ended having dinner with him the other day, and he looked at me like, 'Yo, man, I really love the album,' " Kells said. (MTV)

Back in August, Kells credited Diddy for helping him avoid a life behind bars.

Thank God Machine Gun Kelly chose rap. If it weren't for the beats and rhymes, the Cleveland, Ohio, spitter wouldn't have linked with Diddy, but could've become a bad boy of a different kind. "If I wasn't an artist, I'll probably be in jail," MGK told MTV. "Probably. I make a lot of dumb decisions in life." Luckily, MGK spends most of his time spitting bars than behind them, and that's why he was chosen to represent the MTV Jams' Fab 5 class of 2012. (MTV)

Last winter, Diddy mapped out his Bad Boy Records takeover.

"Right now we're in set-up mode. Red Cafe is slated, he's up first. And we're immediately going after the [French Montana] 'Shot Caller' music video today on BET -- 'Wild Boy' is out there. That's Machine Gun Kelly's record with Waka Flocka. We premiered that joint [on '106 & Park'] and the success and how long it takes for those records to break, get out there and make sure the names, the project and the energy gets out there, that kind of dictates when the album's drop but we're going to continuously be dropping music and keeping our foots on their necks. No mercy." (Hot 97)

A couple months ago, MGK announced his Lace Up album release date.

""Lace Up" the Album officially releases in stores October 9th!!! Pre-order at http://www.mgklaceup.com !! LTFU," he tweeted August 7th.
"This is the first time I've ever seen Lace Up trending. I feel like a proud dad or something http://instagr.am/p/ODMgcjCtXo/"
"Aliens rage heavy to Wild Boy. I'm witnessing it right now. Space nuts!!!" (Machine Gun Kelly's Twitter)
