[In celebration of the NBA season beginning this week, SOHH is tipping things off with your favorite rappers boasting about their top teams. Today, Bronx rapper The Kid Daytona tells SOHH readers why he is loyal to only one New York basketball team.]
You know what's crazy? Growing up, I used to love watching basketball. Growing up I was a Chicago Bulls fan. That whole team of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen just that whole squad.
When that team had kind of faded away and everybody broke up after that last champioinship, I was just finding myself not watching ball and I really became a Knicks fan when Carmelo Anthony came last year.
That's when I really started rooting for the Knicks. I'm a Knicks fan for now. I like the team and I like the direciton they're going. I used to be a part of all those heart-breaking years when Jordan used to kill them and Reggie Miller and all that.
I'm definitely a newfound Knicks fan. I love basketball in general though.
As far as the expectations for the squad, I don't know. I hope they do better than last year. I don't really believe Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony [playing together.] I don't think they can play together.
I think Melo thrives in the post and he's able to go out and play his game. I think that's where he thrives. I'm not really sure how it's going to work. Raymond Felton running the point, I think it should be a little better but we'll see.
I like the new addition of [Ronnie] Brewer. I think he definitely adds some toughness which was highly needed.
