Former "American Idol" celebrity judge Steven Tyler is not buying into the current war of words between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, calling the entire beef bogus.
According to Tyler, the sparring is nothing more than a ratings tactic.
Steven Tyler thinks the entire Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey beef is being orchestrated by the show for ratings ... and as a former judge on the show, he's one to know. Our photog spotted the Aerosmith rocker last night leaving an L.A. restaurant -- it's called Son of a Gun (we like the name) -- and when we asked him if the entire feud was BS, he scoffed and said ... well, watch the video and you'll see. And just in case you had hopes the scarfed one might make an "A.I." return some day ... Tyler proclaimed he'd never go back. It's not safe for a delicate person like him. (TMZ)
"Idol" producers have already issued a statement clearing up the situation.
"This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we've ever had. We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can't imagine a better group to find the next American Idol," reads the statement. "Despite all the accusations and media speculation -- much of which is inaccurate -- production is going extremely well today and the judges are focused on finding the best talent here in Baton Rouge." A few days ago, Minaj took to Twitter and exploded on Carey.
"Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it," she tweeted October 4th.
"Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz."
"Barbara walters didn't reach out from our team barbz. I guess we're too dangerous. Don't shake if u don't wannA get shook!!!!" (Nicki Minaj's Twitter)
Mariah and Minaj's "Idol" arrival comes months after Tyler departed the popular show.
"After some long, hard thoughts, I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit," Tyler said in a statement. "I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back - but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass - the ultimate in auditory takeover. (Rolling Stone)
