Grammy-nominated rapper Fabolous may have rooted for the hometown New York Knicks in the past, however, he is now showing love for his borough's new Brooklyn Nets NBA team.

In a new episode of NBATV's "The Association," Fab provides Jay-Z's team a courtesy freestyle.

On Monday, NBA TV kicked off their behind-the-scenes look at the ups and downs of an NBA Season in "The Association." This year, the show will follow the one of the most talked about teams, the Brooklyn Nets. Kicking off their first episode was Fabolous, who performed a new freestyle dedicated to his hometown team. You can catch episodes every Friday night on NBA TV, while the 2012-2012 season begins October 30th. (Miss Info TV)

Roc Nation's Rihanna is also standing behind the Brooklyn Nets.

Sorry, Knicks -- Rihanna has switched sides! At the star-studded opening of Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in the billion-dollar Barclays Center, the "We Found Love Singer" revealed her loyalties are now in Brooklyn. With her mentor's Brooklyn Nets. "I have to support the Nets, they're part of my clique!" she told Confidenti@l Thursday night. Rihanna, who hours earlier flew in from London, looked stunning, as always, in a pajama-style, currency-inspired Acne Studios ensemble. (NY Daily News)

Despite the love, Jay recently received criticism from political speaker Dr. Cornel West over his ownership percentage.

Once again, folks are all up in Jay Z's business over exactly how much of a stake he has in the Brooklyn Nets. Academic and activist Cornell West recently implored the rapper to disclose the financial facts. "Now I love Jay-Z, I've spent much time with the brother. He's a lyrical genius. But we've got to tell him the truth. Tell the truth, Jay-Z. You tell the truth on 'Reasonable Doubt' in 1996, that's what he started out with. He's telling the truth, we love you negro. But we gon' make sure you're accountable too. All of us in this together, and I'm saying it out of love," said West. (Atlanta Black Star)

Coincidentally, Jay reportedly took a jab at his haters and critics alike over his ownership percentage late last month.

During his third night of concerts at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Jay-Z took the time to speak to the crowd and address some recent criticism. In particular, he noted how newspapers have pointed out his minority ownership of the Brooklyn Nets. "Don't let anybody diminish your accomplishments," he said to the crowd. "It's our motherf*cking time now." He then told "every single person" to throw up their middle fingers and direct them at everyone who tried to hold them back before tearing through "99 Problems."
