[SOHH highlights a hot record each Tuesday and offers a unique look at the track in Singled Out. After Ca$hflow broke down his Ma$e-featured "Young Harlem N*gga," West Coast veteran E-A-Ski explains his Ice Cube and Danny Glover-starring "Cruise Control" music video.]

To be honest with you, I had really been listening to music in general and everybody's kind of doing the same thing. It's kind of always swagged-out songs, the Drake 'ish, Lil Wayne 'ish or now with the 2 Chainz things. I just felt like coming from the West, there's a lot of repetitive stuff coming out that it just wasn't really no balance.

I wanted to make a record that had the feel of the West but was still universal with the music. Once I got the music that I felt good about, I wanted to do something with a little bit of a different topic. I wanted a topic that was universal and not just West Coast but something everybody could somewhat relate to it.

I don't know if the East Coast can as much because of all the traffic but when you're talking about the South and the West, we do some driving and cruising. I wanted to do something where people could relate to it. Summer was coming up and I knew people loved to be in their cars and that's kind of how I came up wiht the whole "Cruise Control."

I'm sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Oakland so I'm always in the fly drops and nice cars. That's how that title and concept came to me where I could do something that was about me being in the whip and being fly.

From that point on, it was people saying "This sh*t is hot." I wanted to speak on a lot of things going on. I really wanted to display that and then from that point, me and Ice Cube being real close friends, I told him about the record I was doing because we had just done a record last year that came out real dope.

Then Danny Glover and me work out at the same gym. Me and him actually did a film together called No Problems that's got to come out after this record. He had just come from his film festival, out of town, and I ran into him. That's kind of how that whole concept came together. I wanted to make "Cruise Control" be the beginning and the follow it up withe No Problems. That's why in the beginning you kind of see me and him at a table but nobody knows what we're talking about.

Nobody will know what we were talking about until you see No Problems. You're seeing "Cruise Control" and this car but you have no idea what's going on. It's just about trying to be creative and to show that I paid my dues in the game and I have a lot of relationships. I'm going to make quality records and I'm not going to trade my integrity.

I'm a trend setter. I'm the type of guy who likes to do something different than what you'll see on the normal record. I wanted to do something visually that would make people say it's dope and they can respect that.
