Maybach Music Group's Wale took a moment to reflect on his 28th birthday Friday (September 21) and acknowledged how far he has come in the rap game just two albums deep.

Wale took to his Twitter page and took note of how much of an accomplishment making it big has been for him.

"Birthday vent... In 5432....," he tweeted on the special day.
"I am so blessed ..u know how many people rhyme and are trying to get on? In the DC area alone.. There's more aspiring musicians than ballers"
"The fact that I made it out of millions and millions of musicians to be someone whom y'all (many) consider great.. Is an obvious blessing ."
"It coulda been anyone from anywhere.. But I'm on my fifth project .. Countless mixtapes.. Seen the world met legends made bread. And most"
"Important created a fan base bigger than I could've imagined when I was sellin sneakers n phones.. Driving a Camry ."
"Long story short ...thank y'all for rockin wit #folarin !" (Wale's Twitter)

Recently, NBA superstar Kevin Durant revealed his admiration for Wale and said he would sign him if given an opportunity.

"If I started a record label today I would sign Drake, I would sign Wale and Rihanna," said KD. "Drake, just because he has that icon type of status now. Wale, hometown guy on the come up. Just like me, a young guy that's trying to find his way. Rihanna is just -- she's like the new thing for the women side of what she does and she's doing a phenomenal job." (SWAG)

Recent reports claim the Washington, D.C.-bred emcee has banked roughly $5 million in just over a year.

That competitive nature has set the rapper on a course to stardom, as his recent success shows. Wale grossed over $20,000 per night while performing more than 75 concerts over the past year; his new album, Ambition, provided the soundtrack. Over the past 12 months, he pulled in nearly $5 million, narrowly missing the Hip-Hop Cash Kings list. "I don't want to be one of those guys that you see who made $4 million, invested $3.5 million, and now you work at Wendy's," he says. "I want to get the highest score on Pacman or Frogger ... [and] I want to make sure I'm on the FORBES list in a year or two." (Forbes)

Last fall, Wale's Ambition sophomore LP moved over 160,000 copies in its opening week.

Maybach Music Group rapper Wale's Ambition debuted on the chart at No. 2. After seven days in stores, the LP has sold 164,100 copies. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
