Elusive New York rapper MF Doom recently showered fellow Big Apple emcee Nas with accolades for embodying unmatched freestyle skills.
Doom said Nas' prowess on freestyle beats is so ill even he has stepped back in amazement.
"That's my brother. My other brother from another mother. That's all I could say. This n*gga got a lot of sh*t going on. We got some work done, but we ain't record it. He would freestyle and have fun and sh*t. We should have recorded some of the freestyles this n*gga did. He did one freestyle over this beat that I got -- the n*gga ripped the whole sh*t from beginning to end. That's how you know who's really nice. The motherf*cker's nasty. Certain cats just have a natural knack for it. Nas is nice. That n*gga's nasty, matter of fact. I said that n*gga's nice? He's not nice, he's nasty. I don't know if I'm gonna rhyme with him [laughing] but I'll be doing some production sh*t, more or less. That n*gga's too crazy. He could go off the top too ill. That's what it's about." (HHDX)
Over the weekend, Roc Nation rapper Jay Electronica called Nasty one of hip-hop's finest.
"Nas is one of the gods, one of the greatest of all time, one of the godfathers of even my own style," he said. "I met him on a humble submission and he is one of the greatest ever -- he never has or never will need a ghostwriter. He's legendary, his pen game is unquestionable; salute to Nas. "And all of the other bullsh--, is just bullsh--," he added, addressing the stories that have been told over the past few weeks. (MTV)
Prior to starting a two-year jail bid, Philadelphia rapper Beanie Sigel applauded Nas' new Life Is Good album.
"Thanks to Nas too for a great album, the first 'hip-hop' album in a while," Sigel said in an interview. "Salute to Nas. [Nas and Rick Ross dropped some grown folks albums this summer.] Yeah, it's good, we can listen to some music now. I don't like to disrespect nobody for their craft, what they do or getting their money but I just don't want to hear certain stuff everyday. You know what I mean? I ain't going to get into the name-calling and all that. [Rick Ross'] production is good. Yeah." (All Hip Hop)
Recently, Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 also gave God's Son props for his new LP.
Aside from their own record, Royce has been listening to Nas' latest Life Is Good. "I got Nas' album on repeat," he revealed. "I take it to all different eras of hip-hop. I'll listen to 'Accident Murderers,' 'World's an Addiction,' and then I'll go back to It Was Written." (Rap-Up)
