Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris is keeping fans waiting for his long-delayed Ludaversal album by revealing plans to drop it shortly after the New Year.
If all goes accordingly, Luda's upcoming solo effort will land in store shelves come 2013.
Ludacris debuted his sexy collaboration with Kelly Rowland "Representin" on Monday, but you'll have to wait until next year to get your hands on his album Ludaversal. The Atlanta rapper plans to release more cuts from his eighth LP before it arrives in early 2013. "You gon' hear a lot more records from the Ludaversal album, coming first quarter next year," he told Hot 107.9 Atlanta. Earlier this year, he dropped the strip club anthem "Jingalin'" produced by Da Internz, and has been in the studio with Pharrell, Miguel, Jim Jonsin, Rico Love, and others. (Rap-Up)
Earlier this month, the Atlanta rap star discussed putting the LP together.
"I traveled the world over the last two years, I got to see a lot of things and had a lot of experiences," he says. "That's what Ludaversal is all about. Really kind of being vulnerable and letting you into my life ... People are definitely going to understand a lot more about the personal side of Chris Bridges when they hear this album." (Forbes)
Back in June, Luda stressed his aim to focus the LP on his personal life.
"This album Ludaversal, it's all about progression. We're taking it to heights that you never, ever seen before," the Atlanta MC told MTV News earlier this month at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee. It's been two years since Luda dropped Battle of the Sexes, and the rapper/actor aims to catch his fans up on all of his goings-on. "I've had seven albums, so right now it's about trying to go places that I haven't been. I've traveled over the world for the past year and I brought a lot of experiences back with me and put 'em in the music," he said. "I've had a lot of personal experiences, so you're going to get to know the real me and things that have been going on over the past three or four years." (RapFix)
Last May, former Disturbin' Tha Peace rapper 2 Chainz revealed his involvement on the album.
"My job is to give him beats from my perspective, from where I come from," he told CBS Local. "I have a long history of club shows and rocking out and he's a more venue artist. So I'm just trying to give him some looks from my eyes and perspective." While 2 Chainz said he couldn't explain what world view Ludaversal will finally express, he explained his approach to the project. "I'm just submitting beats from my eyes, different from what Luda usually does, that's why he hired me," he said. "Me and Luda are definitely two different artists. So, it will be different. I do a lot of clubs. So I'm just submitting 2 Chainz s***. Different things I think he would need or doesn't f*** with." (CBS Local)
