Rap mogul Jay-Z contemplates what impact a rich and wealthy lifestyle will have on his six month-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter in a newly published New York Times feature.
Within the interview, Young Hov acknowledges Blue's lavish life in contrast to his growing up in the Marcy, Brooklyn projects.
At the last minute, I remembered to ask after his family, "Oh, my family's amazing." And the baby? "She's four months." Marcy raised me, and whether right or wrong/Streets gave me all I write in the song. But what will TriBeCa give Blue? "I actually thought about that more before she was born. Once she got here I've been in shock until maybe last week?" Her childhood won't be like his, and this fact he takes in his stride. "We would fight each other. My brother would beat me up," he says, but it was all in preparation for the outside. "I was going to have to fight, I was going to have to go through some things, and they were preparing me." He smiles: "She doesn't have to be tough. She has to love herself, she has to know who she is, she has to be respectful, and be a moral person." It's a new day. (New York Times)
Last week, Hovi and Blue were spotted spending time together on a helicopter.
The '99 Problems' rapper was seen cradling Blue Ivy as they stepped off the helicopter upon their arrival. Jay-Z has been pictured holding his daughter Blue Ivy Carter for the first time in public, as the father and daughter arrived into New York City yesterday (30th August). The 'Young Forever' rapper landed in the Big Apple on Thursday cradling eight month-old Blue Ivy as they left the helicopter dropping them off in the city, as baby Blue wore ear protecting headphones for the trip. Blue Ivy was wearing an all white baby's playsuit for the journey while Jay-Z was in a white t-shirt, green baseball cap and black jeans, with a grey sweater wrapped over his shoulders. (Capital FM)
Recently, former Roc-A-Fella rapper Freeway talked to SOHH about Jigga embracing fatherhood.
"Jay is a good friend of mine and this is like the most happiest I've seen him in a minute, man," Free told SOHH when asked for his reaction to Jigga embracing fatherhood. "He's upbeat, good-spirited, you know what I'm saying? He's just happy to be a father. I've always said he's one of the best to do it, as far as the whole career, the whole family situation. ... He's living the American Dream right now. Much love to him." (SOHH)
Last spring, Jay shared his thoughts on playing big papa and imagined Blue Ivy hitting her teenage years.
"I imagine I'll take things I learned from my mom and things I've learned from raising my nephews and apply that," the rapper said in an interview for Oprah's Master Class: Special Edition. "Then at the end of the day, I just know I'll probably have the worst-spoiled little kid ever," he admitted. Jay-Z went on to say that even if he does spoil Blue Ivy, she will probably resent him once she is a teenager. "Everyone imagines they'll be a great dad until their [kids are] teenagers," he said. "[Then they say], 'Get away from me, dad. You're embarrassing me'." (Digital Spy)
