Written by SOHH for Yandy Smith

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Brian "Rydar" Ellis gave J Dilla the crown last week, "Love & Hip-Hop" star Yandy Smith crowns Joell Ortiz SOHH Underrated.]

One of my favorites who I don't know if somebody is going to kill me for it, but someone that's hot right now, that I think is SOHH Underrated and I think is so dope is Joell Ortiz.

I just think he's dope. Lyrically, his delivery, the way he puts things together. Everything I've ever heard him spit, I feel it. Everything. There's nothing that I've heard and said, "Oh, that was kind of wack." Everything I've ever heard [is hot].

Even his delivery it's just that everything I've heard has made me feel like I'm in the moment. I think it's the way he delivers it, he just makes it sound fly.

His whole "Yaowa" thing, it's all about whatever you've got to do [to stand out]. We've all got to do our own thing and that's his little thing.

I'm sure for some people, the fact he's Puerto Rican matters but for me, talent has no colors. When the lights are on at the concert, we're all the same color. I hear that voice and I hear those lyrics and he just sounds ill. I don't know, it doesn't matter if he was Puerto Rican, White, Chinese, he's dope. For me, it doesn't make a difference.

I think he's just dope.
