Tensions are still high for producer Havoc as he has once again publicly taunted estranged Mobb Deep group member Prodigy over his condolences to the memory of late music executive Chris Lighty.
Hav took to Twitter and put Prodigy in the hot seat for reportedly firing Lighty during their tenure at Violator Management.
"RIP to my ol music mentor Chris Lighty. U will be deeply missed.," he tweeted August 30th.
"RT: @PRODIGYMOBBDEEP: terrible news.. tremendous loss R.I.P. big homie --- Yeah, it was a loss when you fired him." (Havoc's Twitter)
According to reports, Lighty encouraged Mobb Deep to make "Quiet Storm" one of their 1999 singles.
Havoc was hesitant for the group to release "Quiet Storm" as a single. After all, it's essentially a solo Prodigy song. However, with Lighty's persistence and Havoc's belief in Lighty's "priceless ear for hits," the song became a hit and one of the duo's signature classic. The track even spawned a remix, which featured Lil Kim and did include a verse from Havoc. (Complex)
Last month, Hav released a music video for his perceived Prodigy diss track, "Separated (Real From The Fake)."
Two weeks back former Mobb Deep member Havoc released a new track from his solo EP blatantly ripping into his former partner and best friend Prodigy. Havoc never makes mention of Prodigy by name, but it's easy to tell who the subject of his verbal attack is. Well now we have some visuals to aid us in our listen to the track, entitled Separated. Since Mobb Deep officially Separated a few weeks ago I have been in a state of Mobb Depression. I now find myself skipping all the Mobb Deep songs on my iPhone out of pure devastation. (The Koalition)
On the track, he appears to take shots at Capital P's new H.N.I.C. 3 solo album.
"You used to spit bars, but now you just chirp," Hav raps, "Like a love bird/And most of your album is for the love birds/Son, you wilding -- what happened to your principals/Your style ain't about sh*t/If this is what you call beef, I'm about to take a cow sh*t..." ("Separated (Real From The Fake)")
In late July, the producer/rapper came clean on lying about having his Twitter hacked in April and confessed to dissing P.
"The tweets is crazy," said Havoc. "So it was you?" asked Creekmur. "Yeah," said Havoc. "And I was speaking of a stand point of being mad, but still being truthful of how I felt - but it was just the wrong thing to do at that time." As for the state of Mobb Deep, Havoc says they are taking a break."Right now Mobb Deep is on hiatus, indefinitely...until things get hashed out," Havoc told AllHipHop.com. "Eventually, the real story will come out; there's two sides to every story. Only one has been spoken for." (All Hip Hop)
