Odd Future affiliate Frank Ocean came through for his scheduled appearance on "Saturday Night Live" as a guest performer and lighted up the show by showcasing a couple notable hits.

Ocean relied on his "Thinking About You" and "Pyramids" channel ORANGE tunes to bring life to the season opener.

Frank Ocean's performance was a stark contrast to the humor, but set the bar high for the rest of the season. His renditions of "Thinking About You" and "Pyramids" were powered by an intimate stage setup and his somber tone. (NBC Chicago)

The crooner also received some on-stage help courtesy of rocker John Mayer.

You've heard the announcement , seen the (awkward) promo clip , and now you can finally enjoy Frank Ocean 's debut performance on Saturday Night Live, given you missed the initial broadcast last night. The Odd Future crooner helped to kick off the long-running show's 34th season with an impassioned set. Perched in front of a faux arcade, kitted out in his usual Aztec sweater and bandana, Ocean gave delicious renditions of "Thinkin Bout You" and "Pyramids," both from his recent channel ORANGE album. As promised , John Mayer lended his services on the guitar, and helped to complete another fine performance from one of music's most polarizing talents. (Prefix Mag)

Prior to last night's opener, "Saturday Night Live" host Seth MacFarlane boasted about Ocean's current popularity.

We then asked MacFarlane to weigh in on musical guest Frank Ocean and how his R&B stylings work into the variety show. "Frank is a huge get for the show. He's the guy right now," MacFarlane said. "I'm scandalously ignorant when it comes to almost all popular music but he's huge; he's like the biggest act in the world right now and is an enormously talented guy." (MTV)

Earlier this month, the West Coast singer performed at MTV's Video Music Awards '12.

Frank Ocean was among the long list of performers at MTV's Video Music Awards broadcast on Thursday night. He shared the stage with the likes of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Pink and One Direction, but it's safe to say his VMAs performance stood out among that company. Ocean sang a stripped-down version of "Thinking About You," a song off channel ORANGE. (Huffington Post)
