Music rivals Fat Joe and 50 Cent placed their differences aside yesterday (September 5) as they both came to Manhattan to wish their longtime friend Chris Lighty farewell amongst other celebrities.

Despite a publicized feud dating back to the mid-2000's, Fif and Joey Crack showed support for the Lighty family at the late music executive's funeral.

Rap royalty turned out en masse Wednesday for the farewell of fallen hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty. A constellation of stars -- many of them wearing pins emblazoned with Lighty's face -- crowded a Manhattan funeral home to pay their respects. Sean Diddy Combs, Fat Joe, Rev. Run, Missy Elliott, Michael Bivens, Wyclef Jean, Ed Lover -- each stopped by the open casket where Lighty was laid out in a black suit. The mourners also included rappers Lighty had worked with like 50 Cent, singers like Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill, celebrities like Gayle King and Nick Cannon, and other rap moguls like Andre Harrell, Lyor Cohen and Mona Scott-Young. (New York Daily News)

This week, Fat Joe also penned a dedication track to Lighty.

Fat Joe pays tribute to the late Chris Lighty on the touching remix to Slaughterhouse's Boi-1da-produced single "Goodbye" off their Shady Records debut welcome to: OUR HOUSE. "If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here," raps Joey Crack about his mentor, who was found dead last week after an apparent suicide. "When you get to heaven, tell Pun we miss him." Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Royce da 5'9" also recall fond memories of the fallen soldiers in their lives. (Rap-Up)

Last week, Lighty's business associate Michael "Blue" Williams said money likely did not ignite the suicide.

"Chris' debt is probably less important than the pressure that he was under," Williams told MTV News on Friday (August 31). "What people are missing and what people don't see and what Chris is an example of is how much, as black men, we carry around and don't always communicate." "Some people will hear you're in $2 million of debt and be like, 'Aww he could've got out of that,' " Williams said anecdotally. "Other people will be like, 'He's been in debt before and then dug himself out,' because managers get in debt sometimes and you got to dig yourself out when your artist gets hot." (MTV)

His brother, Dave Lighty, could not comprehend how Chris could have gone through with a reported suicide.

"I'm surprised, shocked, and lost at this moment. I want the truth to come out. This isn't my brother. My brother was a strong person, is a strong person. Nothing is adding up. I can't get a direct answer from anybody...I understand there's a process to be followed. I can't even get clear answers from people I think I should be getting clear answers from... I just want to know what really happened to my brother. If he did take his own life, all right, I just wish he could have reached out and spoken to us. We were all here for him. I just want the truth. The truth." (Fox 5 News)
