With the upcoming N.W.A. film's production finally underway, West Coast rapper Mann tells SOHH why he should be at the top of any casting director's list.
The 21 year-old rapper said he sees himself as a perfect fit for portraying the late Eazy-E.
"Right now, I'm really trying to go out for Eazy-E in the new N.W.A. movie," Mann told SOHH. "I'm really excited about that. I always wanted to play Eazy-E, actually, and they're starting to cast for the movie so I'm sending in my audition tape and hopefully I'll get that role. But if not, I'm just trying to get back into what I love doing and that's performing and keeping people happy. My music can do that as well so I'm looking at all different alleys. I just turned 21 so I feel like I'm in a whole new range of what I can do." (SOHH)
He also revealed just how long he has dreamed about getting this opportunity.
"I think it would be dope," Mann added referring to if he gets the role. "It's funny because a year or two ago, before they were even talking about a movie, I said I really wanted to be Eazy-E and if someone ever made a movie about Eazy-E, I would want to try out for the role. So I really want to try out for the N.W.A. movie. Everybody's been telling me, 'You've got to try out for that role.' So I'm going to try and get that done." (SOHH)
A few days ago, music producer Dr. Dre tweeted a photo from the N.W.A. set.
Dr. Dre tweeted a picture of him on the set of N.W.A.'s forthcoming movie with the director F. Gary Gray. "Dre & F Gary Gray - The NWA Movie kicks off the collaboration! Expect more incredible projects from this powerhouse duo." There's been talk about a N.W.A. biopic for years now, and finally, filming has come to fruition. During our interview with Cube, he revealed that the N.W.A. biopic was still being planned out and that he wanted his own son to play him in the movie. (Global Grind)
Eazy-E's son Lil Eazy-E displayed an interest in portraying his father last fall.
Eazy-E's son says there's a "high probability" he'll play his famous father in an upcoming Hollywood movie about the legendary rap group N.W.A. ... telling TMZ, "I'm the perfect man for the role." TMZ spoke with Eric Wright Jr. -- aka Lil' Eazy-E -- who told us he's "very excited" that New Line Cinema is moving forward with the flick ... which is set to be produced by Eazy's former N.W.A. group member Ice Cube. "Who better to play him in the N.W.A. days?" ... Lil' Eazy said ... adding, "Like father, like son -- no makeup needed." The 27-year-old -- who's trained with an acting coach in the past -- tells us he's already been in contact with the movie producers ... but he has yet to formally audition for the gig. Wright was only 11 years old when Eazy died back in 1995 -- but he tells us, "I know I'm just like my dad." (TMZ)
