Cash Money Records' Mystikal has released his first post-jail interview where he describes the grind of serving out nearly three months behind bars and how he took advantage of his unfortunate situation.
Mystikal admitted despite the time difference, his latest bid reminded him of serving just over five years in the mid-2000's.
"81 days, I'ma be right back. Now that's that bullsh*t! Man, say bruh, the 81 days is pretty much as tough as those 6 [years]. Of course not as bad. Just the timing, I had made it home, inked my deal and then was on my way up the charts and here goes the bullsh*t again. God d*mn. I definitely took advantage of it. I used it as an opportunity to judge calm down and reflect on everything and just stay fresh, stay hungry, stay ready." (#Mystikal Monday)
Details of his release from the penal system surfaced online in ealry August.
Mystikal is a free man ... after spending more than 2 months in jail for violating his probation ... TMZ has learned. The "Shake Ya Ass" rapper was released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail in Louisiana early this morning ... where he had been incarcerated since May 14. As we previously reported, Mystikal was sentenced to 90 days behind bars after being arrested for domestic abuse ... a violation of his probation from a previous sexual battery and extortion conviction. Prior to beginning the bid, the rap veteran revealed his mental state of mind.
"Disappointed isn't the word for it -- ashamed," Mystikal tells Billboard when asked how he's feeling about the new jail sentence. "It's hard to show up. If I stole your money and I gotta come face you again and you ask me about the money, it's gonna be hard for me to face you in the eye. So the proof is in the pudding. Everything I was doing, the 81 days was right there riding with me -- in the SUV, come on, who's that? My 81 days. Everywhere I went, it was keeping me in check, and it's a fight. I can tell myself all kinds of things, I can sit there and mope, or I can get out and thank those fans the way I'm supposed to, the way they deserve to be thanked. So of course I am." (Billboard)
The rapper's Cash Money boss, Birdman, previously took an upbeat approach to his jail woe.
"Sh*t happens, bruh. All I can do and all we can do as a brand is just support him. When a n*gga doing time, it's important that families be there," Birdman said in an interview. "That's when you see who means something to you in life, when you down. We gon' be there with him. We been there before. We know how that go. We do as much music as we can before he go, if he have to go, but besides that, when he come home, it's right back at it. The same day that concrete touch, the same day we putting out music."
