Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is reportedly gearing up for a dubstep joint effort by teaming up with electro star Skrillex.
While details are still emerging, Skrill broke the news in an interview this week.
Since winning three Grammy Awards back in February--he was nominated for five, including Best New Artist--Skrillex has been touring non-stop all around the world, including primetime slots at the popular summer music festivals Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. "I did some music with Kanye and from what I know, it's actually going to be the first song on his new album." (The Daily Beast)
Since the interview, music critics and websites have contemplated where the joint effort will land.
Cool. Of course, the only point of contention seems to be what new album Skrill was talking about ... their team-up could either appear on 'Ye's upcoming G.O.O.D. Music release, Cruel Summer (due September 4), or his sixth solo album, which producer No I.D. recently told MTV News is also in the works. (MTV)
Since the late 2000's, Skrillex has exploded onto the mainstream music scene.
Sonny Moore put his gig as post-hardcore frontman behind him in 2008 when he left his band From First to Last and created the dancefloor-oriented project Skrillex. He originally used the name for live DJ sets, but in 2009 the project moved into the studio with Skrillex remixing the likes of Lady Gaga ("Bad Romance") and Snoop Dogg ("Sensual Seduction"). In 2010, the self-released digital download EP My Name Is Skrillex appeared, combining the Benny Benassi and Deadmau5 styles of electro with the over the top samples and giant noises of acts like the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. Yeezy appears to be keeping busy as of late, recently revealing his new "My Perfect B*tch" record is dedicated to current girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
Kanye West has the perfect chick and he's not afraid to brag about it. After previewing unreleased music at NYC's PH-D Rooftop Lounge early Saturday morning ("around 1:30 a.m."), West took to Twitter to confirm one song in particular, reportedly named "Perfect B*tch," is about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. "I wrote the song Perfect B*tch about Kim," 'Ye tweeted. (Billboard)
