Cash Money's DJ Khaled has set the record straight on recent reports which claim he owes over $50,000 to a Florida landlord in back rent.
Rather than take the reports serious, Khaled simply laughed off the dollar amount.
"Nah, that's just people missing me. They miss me. I apologize. We ended up moving into something different, something with an elevator and a few stories. They're trying to say I owe $55,000 or something like that. $66,000, I don't know. I don't know where people get this information from," Khaled said in an interview. "If I do, holla at my accountant. It's nothing, man. That's what my rugs cost and my trips cost and my wrist costs. It's rumors. I realize that the more hustle you do, the more rumors come out. I appreciate the promotion, but I'm definitely alright and we're okay." (Hot 97)
Earlier this month, Khaled appeared to downplay the rumor on his Twitter page.
"dont believe everything u hear from f*ck boys yall know way better than that!U know wht's up the more success the more the f*ck boys wnt put lies out thr. I tell the f*ck boys bow dn #KISSTHERING!," he tweeted August 12th. (DJ Khaled's Twitter)
Reports of the alleged $55,000 debt hit the Internet around mid-August.
DJ Khaled can spin it anyway he wants ... but his landlord has sued to have him evicted, claiming the famous deejay failed to pay $55,000 in back rent. According to court docs filed in Miami, Khaled rented an apartment last September from Misci LLC and agreed to make two bulk payments of $66,000 for rent. Khaled made the first payment, but according to the landlord's lawsuit ... he failed to make the second one after re-working the deal to pay $11,000 upfront and the remaining $55,000 a month later. The reports also claimed he refused to pay the debt after multiple attempts.
Two weeks later, Misci says they gave Khaled three days notice to vacate the property, but he refused. Misci then filed a lawsuit to get their money back (plus attorneys' fees) and have Khaled removed from the apartment. The case is still ongoing. We reached out multiple times to Khaled's lawyer and rep ... no word back. (TMZ)
