State Property's Beanie Sigel recently bigged up former music rival Nas and Maybach Music Group's Rick Ross for stepping up the hip-hop game's standards with their latest solo albums.
The Broad Street Bully pointed out the maturity and quality sound Nasty Nas and Ricky Rozay have provided as of late.
"Thanks to Nas too for a great album, the first 'hip-hop' album in a while," Sigel said in an interview. "Salute to Nas. [Nas and Rick Ross dropped some grown folks albums this summer.] Yeah, it's good, we can listen to some music now. I don't like to disrespect nobody for their craft, what they do or getting their money but I just don't want to hear certain stuff everyday. You know what I mean? I ain't going to get into the name-calling and all that. [Rick Ross'] production is good. Yeah." (All Hip Hop)
Recently, Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 also gave Nas props for his new LP.
Aside from their own record, Royce has been listening to Nas' latest Life Is Good. "I got Nas' album on repeat," he revealed. "I take it to all different eras of hip-hop. I'll listen to 'Accident Murderers,' 'World's an Addiction,' and then I'll go back to It Was Written." (Rap-Up)
New York rapper Fabolous recently applauded the Life Is Good LP.
"I think it's actually a breath of fresh air for hip-hop," Fab said. "It's a different direction than a lot of the hip-hop that's been coming out more recent. It's so fresh. It's so good to hear fresh music once in a while. You know, nothing wrong with the sound that's in hip-hop right now, except for that it's over-saturated you know, but I think Nas gives a different approach. I think that's dope. "It's just about making great hip-hop overall and I think Nas' album adds to that," 'Loso added. (XXL Mag)
