[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Stevie Williams gave Peedi Crakk the title last week, rap veteran SlimKid3 crowns Black Thought SOHH Underrated.]

Sh*t man, I like Black Thought. I like The Roots because they're the most consistent. I mean, Black Thought is so consisent, dude.

The things he talks about, I don't think he's underrated but I just want people to know that he's so consistent and he's got things on the beat of just what hip-hop should be doing. The messages that we're putting, it's like we're journalists of the times.

We're on the streets and we're putting out the messages in ways that are human. The day-to-day man. If people have picked up on that, then I think they need to check it out because that cat has really been putting it down for a long time.

I just think he needs to be highlighted. It needs to be highligted.

If you listen to the music, The Roots in general are [good] but if you listen to his verses on those songs? Oh my God. I want to quote some stuff but I have all of these rhymes in my head.

SLIMKID3 also known as "Slim Kid Tre" and "Tre Hardson", was one of the four original members of Los Angeles innovative hip hop group The Pharcyde. Since his departure from The Pharcyde, Tre would often go by birth name of "Tre Hardson" rather than "Slimkid3". He has also formed a band 'Faqawi' which has accompanied him with his solo career. Tre's solo work has been greatly influenced by soul and old school hip hop and consists of live instrumentation (replacing the drum machines and sampled beats of his past work). In 2000, Tre Hardson released a very limited edition CD entitled The Legend Of Phoenix, which was a name he shortly performed under. In 2002, Tre released a solo album, Liberation on his record label 'Flying Baboon'. His second full length solo album SLIMKID3's Cafe was released on April 4, 2006. His Another Day, Another Dollar EP is currently available.
