West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar recently addressed his relationship with fellow Interscope Records pop star Lady Gaga and how they hooked up over a popular social network.
According to Lamar, Gaga reached out to him first through Twitter.
"That's a good friend. Yeah [laughs] That's just a good friend. She's a good friend. [laughs] She just reached over on Twitter. Just being a fan of the music. We come from two different worlds, as far as the music we doing. She's a fan of hip-hop. She says the same thing, my sound is refreshing. That's what really attracted her to it. [Did I question if it was really her?] Yeah, definitely. There be so many fake accounts on Twitter and stuff, so I had to really go through and check. It was her, most definitely. She's good peoples." (WGCI)
The Interscope pair were spotted at the Chicago Pitchfork Music Festival last weekend.
Kendrick Lamar's biggest fan comes from an unlikely source. Last week, the Twittersphere was buzzing when Lady Gaga tweeted she was a fan of Lamar's music. Returning from overseas, the pop star made an unexpected visit to watch her fellow Interscope Records labelmate and new friend during Day 3 of the Pitchfork Music Festival at Chicago's Union Park on Sunday afternoon. Earlier this month, Gaga gushed over her love for Lamar's music.
"@kendricklamar What a sweetie calling me this morning to see how I'm doin. See you soon. love from across the pond. #Rigamortis," she tweeted July 4th.
"I hope so. he and his lyrics are the sh*t. RT @MixedHippy @kendricklamar @ladygaga are all of your fans gonna jump on him" (Lady Gaga's Twitter)
Lamar is staying busy music-making these days and is reportedly working alongside Roc Nation rapper J. Cole on a joint project.
"Kendrick, that's definitely gonna happen. I don't have a timeline but you know if he lands here at 12:00 tonight, we get in for two days, he'll fly out, we'll do that again when we can," Cole said in an interview with DJ Drama. "He's working on his album. First we gotta make the music," said J. Cole. "I would shoot for an album. If we put it out for free then I guess that's just the day and age we live in, but I'm not making it like a mixtape." (Drama Like The DJ)
