Top 5 Dead Or Alive: "He Was Able To Go Toe-To-Toe W/ B.I.G."

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Brother Ali let us out top spitters earlier this week, Webstar names his fave rappers.]
Kanye West. Kanye's evolved with the times. He's one of the greatest rappers of all-time. You've got only a few rappers like Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, LL Cool J that could withstand the test of time. Snoop Dogg too. They all changed with the time. The same style of rapping in '92 is not being done now. Kanye's always been able to change. I remember when he first came to the Roc and he was doing samples. Then he came out commercial. Then he came out conscious. Then he came out on G.O.O.D. Music. He's got real witty rhymes and everything he says is done in a way that you can understand and that nobody else can do. You can feel his passion.
Fabolous. Fabolous will finally get credit when he decides to retire. He'll get the credit because he deserves it. People appreciate it more when you're not around. They begin to miss you. People take that for granted. People take Fabolous for granted and when it's all said and done, people are going to miss him.
Jadakiss. Jada is a veteran. He's one of the only people in rap that was able to go toe-to-toe with B.I.G., Jay-Z and everybody else you can name. He's been rapping since 1995, 1996. He's been a consistent rapper. That's it.
Ma$e. He could have had a long career but he retired. Ma$e was out for four or five years. If you look at the impact he made, he put out two albums and the second one didn't even have any videos to it. If you look back then, him and Jay-Z were neck-and-neck. It was back-and-forth. Nobody was saying Jay was better than him. He inspired so many different artists. Look at Kanye West and how many times he's shouted him out. He inspired so many great rappers. If he was out for another five or six years, he may have been in the Top 5 Greatest of All Time. We just didn't see enough of him.
Rick Ross. Nobody saw this coming. He caught everyone by surprise. I haven't seen an impact like this. The last time I saw an impact like this was with 50 Cent. When he came out, he took the world by storm. Mixtapes, touring, and more. Ross is not only doing hip-hop, but he's doing pop and R&B, he's putting his own artists out, he's doing records with new artists. Look at what he did for Wale's career and Meek Mill's career. Wale's been out for about eight years and he just got Meek out of Philly. So just him as a business mind and artist, it's amazing. He has a tremendous work ethic.
