Grammy-nominated rapper Fabolous recently offered his opinion on the new Life Is Good album and explained why his fellow Def Jam labelmate Nas' newest solo effort brings new energy to the rap game.
Loso specifically pointed out the direction Nasty Nas went on the new project.
"I think it's actually a breath of fresh air for hip-hop," Fab said. "It's a different direction than a lot of the hip-hop that's been coming out more recent. It's so fresh. It's so good to hear fresh music once in a while. You know, nothing wrong with the sound that's in hip-hop right now, except for that it's over-saturated you know, but I think Nas gives a different approach. I think that's dope. "It's just about making great hip-hop overall and I think Nas' album adds to that," 'Loso added. (XXL Mag)
Back in 2010, F-a-b-o-l-o-u-s said he wanted Nas to make a strong hip-hop comeback.
"Nas, Nas, like Nas is so ill," Fab told interviewer Karen Civil. "I think this younger generation of hip-hop really don't know, like, I got a dude who rolls with me, he's like 21, 22, he don't know any of the ill Nas, he don't know Illmatic, you just don't know that Nas that I grew up with. I wish Nas would just let these young boys know he's that dude." (Karen Civil)
Nas' latest solo follow-up to 2008's Untitled crushed its competition this week.
Leading the pack this week is Nas' Life Is Good album which landed at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the LP has shelled out 149,200 units after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Weekend reports had the LP selling up to 135,000 copies in its first week.
Nas will debut at #1 on next week's chart, giving Def Jam two titles in the Top 5. Frank Ocean, in his first week of wide release (sans Target), is being featured for $2.99 in Amazon MP3 store. Because of SoundScan rules limiting the pricing to no less than $3.49 in the first four weeks of release, these sales will not count on that chart. Our current projection does not include these sales. *Nas (Def Jam/IDJ) 125-135k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 70-80k *Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 60-65k Frank Ocean (Def Jam/IDJ) 40-45k (Weakend Chart Preview)
