Former G-Unit member Young Buck is reportedly headed to jail on a three-year term after getting convicted on federal weapons possession on Friday (July 13).
Details of his sentencing surfaced online Friday evening.
Multi-platinum rapper Young Buck was sentenced Friday to three years in prison after he was convicted on weapons charges. Young Buck, a Nashville native whose real name is David Darnell Brown, was arrested for possessing weapons despite being a convicted felon following a stabbing several years prior. The judge sentenced the rapper to serve his two counts concurrently, so he will spend a total of 18 months in jail. "With the judge not considering my history to subtract some time, I'm just thankful for what time I do have," Young Buck said. (MSNBC)
Last May, Buck Marley made a court appearance to take a plea deal in the case.
Rapper Young Buck agreed a plea deal with prosecutors to serve 18 months in jail after an IRS raid on his Nashville home in 2010. The "Taking Hits" rapper -- real name David Darnell Brown -- agreed to plead guilty to possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon, TMZ reported. According to legal documents, IRS agents recovered firearms at his home when they went to repossess belongings over an unpaid $300,000 tax debt. They found a .40 caliber Glock 22, along with bullets. Young Buck was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon after he stabbed someone at the Vibe Awards in 2004. As a result, he was prohibited from possessing any firearms. He previously hinted at having to do time behind bars.
"I got to go to the penitentiary for two months," Buck revealed in a video. "F*ck with me for real, hold me down -- and when I get out of the penitentiary, all you rap n*ggas better get the f*ck out the way. I ain't even gonna say no names, but it's a good thing I'm about to go to the penitentiary." ("Back On My Buck Sh*t")
Last year, Buck made headlines after getting arrested on a gun possession charge.
A notorious rapper from Nashville is in trouble again. Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, is facing federal charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Channel 4 was the only station in federal court Monday afternoon when the rapper was brought in in handcuffs to appear before the judge. As the indictment spells out, these latest charges could mean ten years in prison. He's now facing federal charges. According to an indictment unsealed Monday, he's charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a .40-caliber pistol and ammunition.
