Young Money rapper Drake likely breathed a sigh of relief Saturday (June 16) night after dodging a potential arrest for his role in a publicized club fight with Chris Brown.
According to reports, New York City law enforcement had no interest in arresting Drizzy Saturday (June 16) night.
Despite numerous reports to the contrary, the NYPD confirmed to MTV News there are no plans to arrest Drake before his show in Long Island, New York, tonight and the investigation into the YMCMB star's nightclub brawl with Chris Brown is still ongoing. But that doesn't mean authorities are taking things lightly before tonight's concert: TMZ is reporting that New York State Police are calling for extra security at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre following the Thursday morning scuffle between Brown's and Drizzy's entourages in a New York City club. Entering the weekend, reports claimed Drizzy faced a reckless endangerment charge.
Rihanna-loving rapper Drake -- whose nasty note to Chris Brown sparked a VIP-room melee -- is going to be arrested for throwing a bottle at his rival. Drake is expected to be charged with reckless endangerment, sources said, after a witness told cops the hip-hopper hurled the projectile during the 4:00 am local time mayhem Thursday at the SoHo hotspot W.i.P. The witness did not believe Drake hit anyone with the bottle. If Drake does not agree to surrender by early next week, cops may arrest him during tonight's concert at Jones Beach, the sources said. Earlier in the week, Drizzy's camp denied he had anything to do with the club fight.
Drake is adamant ... he is not responsible for the bloody gash on Chris Brown's face ... claiming he was simply leaving the nightclub when the brawl broke out ... but sources tell us, the fight started after Chris Brown and a rapper at Drake's table started trash talking each other. The rapper hanging with Drake -- Meek Mill -- was screaming at Chris and Chris was giving it right back to Meek Mill. One of Chris' lieutenants was also involved in the screaming match. One source says Chris was hurt when Meek Mill hit him with a bottle. A rep for Drake tells TMZ ... "Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began." The rep adds, "[Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property." (TMZ)
Maybach Music Group rapper Meek Mill is also getting attached to the mid-week scuffle.
25-year-old Meek Mill, who was seen hanging with Drake before the brawl broke out at club W.I.P. in New York City early Thursday morning, is responsible for Brown's injury. Although the exact grounds and causes of the altercation remain unknown, pop star Rihanna is believed to be the root reason for tension between Drake and Brown. Both artists have previously dated the leading lady. (Philly)
