Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross recently talked about wanting to re-ignite plans to hook up with Young Money's Drake for the delayed Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once) joint project and said there is still a chance the mixtape could come into fruition.
Ricky Rozay blamed multiple album commitments for holding the joint effort back.
"It's still a huge possibility. Me and the homey stay in contact all the time and we record often," Ross said when he and his MMG crew appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live." So it's just making that decision and moving forward with it. I was just focusing on Self Made Vol. 2 [and] finishing my album God Forgives, I Don't, which will be in stores July 31." (RapFix)
Last November, Drizzy unveiled plans to link with Ross in the studio for a collaborative effort.
Drake revealed to XXL that the much talked about joint album withLil Wayne is on the back burner, possibly for good, but he and Rick Ross have been exchanging ideas for a duet mixtape. "I have been working on a mixtape with Ross," Drake said. "A mixtape called Y.O.L.O. [That means] 'You Only Live Once'. I've been working on that for the last couple of weeks. We haven't really connected because he's been going through this thing with his health. I've been stashing my little beats and verses." (XXL Mag)
In summer 2011, Drizzy hinted at working alongside Ricky Rozay on a potential joint effort.
"[One person] I've discussed doing projects with is obviously Lil Wayne," Drake said in an interview. "And one of the people of the people I enjoy rapping with most in this business is Rozay [Rick Ross]. Me and him have talked about potentially doing something after our albums comes out. I just love making songs with him. Every time we make a song it just seems to be something I love listening to after the fact when I'm in my car." (Entertainment Weekly)
Late last year, the Young Money star talked about his in-studio chemistry alongside the "Boss."
"Yeah, it only makes sense, so hopefully. I'm actually going to Miami to see him this week, sit down and work on God Forgives and just work on whatever comes," Drake said in an interview. "Me and him usually do a few songs, so we'll see where they end up. ... If I have chemistry with anyone in the studio it's with Ross. We want to make the same music. It's definitely a very good experience." (MTV)
