Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West avoided potential danger this week performing overseas as reports claim his Hollywood home was burglarized late Tuesday (June 12) night.
Details on what reportedly went down emerged online Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that its Hollywood division responded to a burglary call at the home of rap sensation Kanye West in the 7800 block of Fareholm Drive. Officers responding believe the home was burglarized either early Wednesday morning or late Tuesday night. No other details have been released in regards to whether anything on the property was taken or who was present at the residence during the incident. (NBC Chicago)
Additional reports claim someone in Ye's camp called in the crime.
Kanye West is now a crime victim, because his L.A. home was hit by burglars ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ. Someone in Kanye's camp who was at Kanye's home called the LAPD this morning to report the break-in. We do not know what, if anything, was taken but people at the scene tell us ... there was evidence the thieves dropped some of Kanye's possessions on the way out. Kanye was not in L.A. He's currently in Birmingham, England, in the middle of his concert tour. The LAPD is investigating. (TMZ)
Despite Ye's high-profile status, the Hollywood neighborhood is known for falling victim to frequent property crimes.
Burglars entered West's 4,200-square-foot home nestled high in the hills, and police were trying to determine if items were stolen. The home has been on the market for a little under $4 million and features many computer-controlled security systems and a massive aquarium wall. The break-in in the 7800 block of Fareholm Drive was discovered around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, when police were alerted. "The owner wasn't home at the time, and it is unknown if any property was taken," said LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh. West is currently touring in England. The Hollywood Hills neighborhood has had 217 property crimes in the last six months Sources said the burglars may have been spooked and fled. The plain-looking home is rarely used, police said. In late May, reports surfaced claiming Ye and current girlfriend Kim Kardashian planned on moving in together.
Kim Kardashian and Kayne West have both discreetly listed their homes for sale, setting the stage for the big, "We're movin' in together" ... TMZ has learned. Kim has given a "pocket listing" to a realtor for her $4.8 mil Beverly Hills home -- a pocket listing doesn't appear in official real estate documents. We're told Kim's asking price is $5 million. Ditto Kanye, who listed his L.A. home as well -- again, a pocket listing. Sources close to the couple confirm ... both are selling their homes so they can rent a house together. They're looking for a really private place to live ... behind gates. (TMZ)
