After years of of speculation, New York rapper Jadakiss has revealed that reunion plans between The LOX and Diddy have fallen through.
While they hoped to drop a new L-O-X album through Bad Boy Records, Kiss said they were never able to work things out.
"Nah, we went over there, we gave him a shot at it," Jadakiss told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway when he appeared on his "Sway in the Morning" satellite radio show on Tuesday (May 8). "He wanted to do it, but I don't think contractually with all of the forces, we weren't able to do it, but he's still the big homie," Jada said, without revealing where the group may sign. (MTV)
Back in January, the raspy rap veteran placed a deadline on their long-awaited LP.
"The LOX-out will be over in 2012, 2013 the latest," Jada revealed in an interview. "We just closed, signing a new deal, closing it. Weeks away. Yeah, literally. All the other LOX talk was malarkey. This is real, this is real though, this is real. You're hearing it from me. We just close to signing a deal. [How close?] This close. In the next couple of days, maybe after All-Star [Weekend] when you hear who got traded, then you'll hear about the new LOX deal." (The Check-In)
In March 2010, Styles P revealed a Diddy deal had not been finalized.
"Ain't nobody vocal, we ain't signed to Puff yet," Styles told radio host Jenny Boom Boom. "We LOX and even if we was, I think everybody respects us to know we do what we do. It's still possible, it's still possible, you know paper work is paper work. It's like y'all job, it ain't official until you sign the contract, right? Nobody's saying it's 'not' a go, but nothing's a go until the contract is signed and I don't know what other way to tell you than that. It's not a go until everything is inked down. Dame Grease is gonna be on it [producing,] we looking to work with all kinds of hot producers." ("Jenny Boom Boom")
Producer Dame Grease previously announced his involvement with the new album.
"It's official, actually, Kiss asked me personally," Grease revealed in an interview. "This was before they were gonna take it to Puff or wherever because the thing is, just checking statistics like the success that we had with The LOX, we all had together and sold 1.5, 2 million records...That was then, but we put the same formula and into the future music."
