Tennis superstar Serena Williams is falling back on love, saying she has removed herself from the dating scene after perceived steamy hook-ups with rappers Common and Drake.
According to Williams, her last run with love ended in heartbreak.
The 30-year-old American star, whose last serious relationship is believed to have been with the US rapper Common, said: 'I've given up on dating. The last relationship was just too much of a heartbreak for me. 'I have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so.' Elaborating on her situation today, the former Wimbledon champion added: 'I've just had bad luck in love. If it doesn't work, just leave it alone, right? 'I think in general I have much better commitment to tennis now. I really feel 100 per cent. I love being on the court - I love every moment. This is what I live for.' (Daily Mail)
Last summer, she addressed romance rumors linking her to platinum-selling rapper Drake.
She looked around to her supporters -- her father Richard, and, elsewhere, Toronto rapper Drake. Later, she would sigh exaggeratedly when asked what the deal is between her and the 24-year-old musical polymath. "Oh, man. Really?" she said. "We're really close friends. Can't be too close to a friend nowadays, I guess." (Toronto Star)
Earlier the same week, love gossip surrounding both entertainers emerged online.
Has Young Money rapper Drake finally moved on from his alleged love affair with Rihanna to a new romance with tennis star (and rapper Common's ex) Serena Williams? According to, LiveTennisGuide.com the pair have been getting extra cozy over the past few weeks with the most recent rendezvous being last week in South Florida. Last week, after Drake tweeted to Serena 'I Can't Wait To Put It On You And Make You Sweat... during our match this weekend", the two had some one on one time on the Tennis Court. Days later, Drake was spotted cheering her on as she competed for the 2011 Rogers Cup tournament in Toronto. (Necole Bitchie)
A few years back, Serena cited scheduling conflicts for impacting her bond with Common.
Serena Williams and rapper Common have had an off-and-on relationship for a couple of years. Despite Common saying he planned to get married back in May (though not specifically to Serena), the couple split later in the month. Serena explained that Common's demanding schedule made it tough for him to maintain their relationship. Well, only a few months later it seems like the two could not live without one another.
