No Limit Records boss Master P recently offered his input on ex-labelmate Mystikal taking his talent to Cash Money and why he fully supports the power move.
According to Master P, No Limit was and is still undergoing a rebuilding phase upon his release from jail back in 2010.
"I think it's good because of the timing," Master P said. "We just starting to get back into this business and Mystikal, I thought that was more like a money thing, you know what I'm saying? Cash Money hot right now. It's always been a friendly competition with us, but at the end of the day, I salute him. He gotta do what he gotta do for his family. But with us, we after something bigger, we don't mind waiting it out. We gon' starve together, we gon' eat together and I think that's what it's about with us. We still building our thing so when he first got out of jail, he needed something to get himself back out there. Right now we in a rebuilding process. So I salute Mystikal. We gon' always do records, he always gon' be in my heart, but also I gotta let him be a man and do what he gotta do and that's what he doing." (RapFix)
In April, Mystikal also said he received Master P's blessing and some tips after publicly linking up with Cash Money.
The times are different, first of all. It's like oranges and apples. The formula is still the same. 'It's the Take Over The World' formula and 'Don't Give A F*ck.' Show them what it is, don't tell them. It's just on another level. This is a new day and a new time for real," Mystikal said in an interview. "[Am I still cool with Master P?] Yeah. I talked to him not too long ago. He congratulated me on the signing and everything, man. Gave me a couple of pointers and keep your head up and get that money. That's how that conversation went." The rapper's former labelmate Silkk the Shocker recently gave his thoughts on the move plus the Cash Money/No Limit alleged war.
"Yeah. I never thought it was a problem. I'm on [Master] P's side and he never explained [how his beef with Birdman started]. I'm sure he maybe had like a few words about [Birdman] ... but they grew up together, so I don't know how that [relationship between them] was. But as far as the artists on the labels amongst each other, I don't think it ever was a problem," Silk added. "I liked what Cash Money was doing. I always thought everybody was talented. I think people got caught up into the fact that we're from the same city. But I gave everybody props and respect. If any brother is getting they money and making it happen, then that's what it is." His music will have to wait, however, as Mystikal is slated to begin an 81-day jail sentence on Monday (May 14).
"Disappointed isn't the word for it -- ashamed," Mystikal tells Billboard when asked how he's feeling about the new jail sentence. "It's hard to show up. If I stole your money and I gotta come face you again and you ask me about the money, it's gonna be hard for me to face you in the eye. So the proof is in the pudding. Everything I was doing, the 81 days was right there riding with me -- in the SUV, come on, who's that? My 81 days. Everywhere I went, it was keeping me in check, and it's a fight. I can tell myself all kinds of things, I can sit there and mope, or I can get out and thank those fans the way I'm supposed to, the way they deserve to be thanked. So of course I am." (Billboard)
