Wow. 8 Mile was many years ago, and although Eminem did a great job in the semi-autobiographical flick, he stayed away from making movies in the years following the film's release. Well, Slim was set to return to the big screen, but now those plans seem to have come to a screeching halt.

Mathers was set to be part of a film about a boxer struggling to get his life in order. Applications to shoot the movie were submitted -- then withdrawn, currently leaving the project in limbo.

A boxing movie starring the famed metro Detroit rapper is the previously unidentified film that earlier this year applied -- and then withdrew its application -- for $8.9 million in Michigan film incentives. "Southpaw," about a welterweight boxer battling to put his life and career back together, sought incentives in the first quarter of 2012 as "Untitled MGM Project." Its estimated in-state spending was about $30.7 million, according to the application.(Freep)

Em's camp says at this point, the Grammy-winning rapper wants to focus on the music.

"He's focusing on his music right now, so while he's doing that, while he's in that space, he wanted to put this on hold for the time being," said Eminem spokesman Dennis Dennehy. "Southpaw" is described in the application as having a script that takes place in Detroit and the city's immediate surrounding areas. It projected employing more than 200 crew members and more than 9,000 extras. (Freep)

In other Slim Shady news, the rapper recently made a unique request while staying at a hotel. Mathers asked that his windows be covered with tin foil. To keep the aliens away? No, to help him sleep.

When star rapper Eminem was in town, you would think hotel staff could lose themselves pandering to a host of his demands. But the "Stan" artist wants nothing more than tinfoil wrapped around the windows of his hotel room to keep out all the light and white noise playing through speakers to ensure he gets a good night's rest. "The noise and darkness gets Eminem the best night's sleep. He uses the technique as he's always jumping time zones," a source said. In the past, the 39-year-old reportedly made a string of demands for his vast entourage during concert tours, including renting entire hotel floors and insisting on private elevators.(MyFoxFW)

Let's have a little fun with our question of the day:If you were an iconic rapper staying in any hotel in the world, what would be your craziest room requests?
