Terror Squad leader Fat Joe is back in music-making mode and finally unleashed a rumored Kanye West-assisted record called "Pride & Joy" this week.
Their new collaboration bubbled across the Internet Wednesday (May 23) evening.
Once again, Bronx, NY rapper Fat Joe is giving us a sneak peek into his upcoming as-yet-untitled 11th solo album via a new guest-packed track. Dubbed "Pride and Joy," the song's guestlist is impressive, to say the least, with everyone from Kanye West, Mos Def and DJ Khaled to Miguel, Jadakiss, Roscoe Dash and Busta Rhymes making an appearance. The song was produced by BINK! and co-written by Rico Love. (Exclaim)
The track comes over a month after Joey Crack and Yeezy linked up in the studio.
If yesterday's photos from Kanye West's recent studio time got you excited -- he was there with Fat Joe, Yasiin Bey, DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, and Busta Rhymes -- then you're going to flip over the latest to hit the web. It appears that Yeezy has also been working on something with Hit-Boy, Diplo, and A$AP Rocky, the latter of whom served as the inspiration for Fat Joe's latest graffiti work. We can only imagine what the end result of their shared time together will bring, though it's safe to say our expectations are high. (Complex)
Recently, Fat Joe talked about Ye inking up rap veteran Q-Tip to his G.O.O.D. Music team.
Though he wasn't in the pictures, Joe confirmed Q-Tip was also in those vibing sessions. It's no secret that Joey Crack is a fan of the former A Tribe Called Quest frontman, and he believes his recent deal with Yeezy's G.O.O.D. Music will further cement 'Ye as a musical genius. "Smartest thing Kanye West ever did," Joe said of the signing. The Bronx, New York, MC wasn't completely forthcoming about what he has cooking with West and company. Still, Joey did liken the interaction to the days when he would randomly pop up in music videos with 1990s rap staples like Black Sheep, Das EFX and Lord Finesse. "I'm in every Lord Finesse [and] Das EFX video, so it just felt like back in the days, every hip-hop head in New York City getting together with Kanye," he said. "We were discussing hip-hop politics, who's hot, who's the new, who's this, who's that, and we just had an amazing time." (MTV)
Not scared to speak openly, the Bronx Bomber previously revealed his disinterest in Ye's 2010 "Power" anthem.
"I just feel like he's super talented and that joint was, I'm sure he's got even better than that," Fat Joe said in an interview. "I like ['Power'] a lot, but I'm sure he's even better than that. Kanye West's my favorite rapper," he said. And even though "Power" wasn't Kanye's best effort in Fat Joe's eyes, "at the end of the day, I'm a huge Kanye West fan." (Bloginity)
