Newly acquired Cash Money/Young Money rapper Ace Hood relishes joining Birdman's star-studded team this week on "106 & Park" and previewed what fans can expect from the new alliance.
Hood said one of the biggest advantages of the new situation is how much more label support he can count on.
"It's big for me," Hood said, referring to the new joint Cash Money/We The Best partnership. "I think the fans are going to be excited about the move. They've been waiting for me to take it to the next level in my career and to get the look and the exposure, being under YMCMB, it's huge. It's something I've been waiting on for a long time. People hear the starvation in my voice, they hear the hunger -- it's a good time." ("106 & Park")
Earlier this month, Cash Money boss Birdman announced teaming up with DJ Khaled's label.
"I'd like to let the world know that Khaled's brand, which is We the Best, is officially signed to YMCMB and the first act coming out that umbrella ... will be Ace Hood," Birdman said. "I always wanted to have a chance to work with Ace Hood. We wanted to do it right, set it up right. I think Ace Hood is a superstar. I love his work ethic, I think he's a very talented young man and he gonna be a big superstar in this business and I wanted to be the one to help him become that. It was important to me." (MTV)
The partnership comes months after Cash Money signed rock group Limp Bizkit plus rap veterans Busta Rhymes and Mystikal.
"I want to get it out there soon, as soon as we can," Fred Durst, who finished an Australian tour with Limp Bizkit during the weekend, told Billboard.com. "The song is already done for the most part. I've got a couple little things I might poke around or punch in on my verse. And I want their guys to take a crack at the mix. I mixed it myself; I think it sounds very big, but I really love the way their guys are mixing stuff, so I want to see what they can do with it." (Billboard)
Ace may get an opportunity to try out his acting chops as Birdman recently revealed plans to shoot an upcoming film featuring various YMCMB artists.
"We start shooting that in the fall," Birdman revealed to XXL. "That's the whole team, that's like a 2012 Balla Blocking. The Rich Gang movie is about the team. Everybody is going to be the star of it, but [Lil] Wayne will be the center of it. It's about the team, everybody that's on the label. ... I would like them [to] just be themselves. I'm not gonna tell no n*gga to go to acting school. Just be yourself. We're excited as a brand about it. Tyga, everybody is like, 'Stunna, let's do a movie.' We got a few of them lined up and we gonna shoot them." (XXL Mag)
